Reminder: Riverside Book Swap!
Fri, May 22 11:48am

It's look like a cool and rainy weekend ahead. It may not be great for your outdoor plans, but it's the perfect weather for clearing out your shelves! Next week is our final week of collection for the Riverside Book Swap. Please bring in your children's books and leave them in the bins outside the cafeteria by Friday, May 29th.

We would love to receive books that are appropriate for Kindergarten through 6th grade; "older kid" books are especially appreciated by our 5th graders, who will be headed off to middle school next fall.

We happily accept:  K-6th grade level; fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and graphic novels; activity books that have not been used; books in languages other than English that meet the rest of the criteria

We do not accept: Board books; books in poor condition; adult fiction/nonfiction; religious books or non-religious books about holidays

Wondering what the Book Swap is? Here's the deal: we collect used children's books, as many as we can, sort them by grade level and topic, and then on a given day, we invite classes in one at a time so that each student has the opportunity to pick a book or two to take home. It is NOT a one-for-one swap; each Riverside student gets to take home books FOR FREE; regardless of how many he or she donated. This is a great opportunity for each child to discover some exciting new books for summer reading. The more books that are donated to the swap, the more books each student gets to take home. Please check your shelves and bring in any books your family is ready to pass along! The book swap not only supports reading, it's a great way to support Riverside's sustainability efforts.
