PTO Newsletter

Hi Riverside Families,

Thank you to everyone who came out to Fall Fest on Friday!  Keep an eye on your Konstella feed for Party Board sign-up opportunities that will include some new offerings not originally available at Fall Fest.  Special thanks to party board maestros Michelle Rowe and Maggie Depenbrock and all of the Riverside families and staff who donated Party Board events and/or gift baskets.   A huge thank you to Michelle Baxter, Barbara Buckinx, Sarah Spross, Anu Garimella, the 3rd grade families, the 5th graders and their families, Max, Anna, Arterio, Ray and the school staff - and all of the parent volunteers who helped put the dinner and event together.  We truly can't do these events without our volunteers!

We've got more exciting news!  McCarter Theatre Center approached us about working on an event together and we're thrilled to announce that not only have we got the first one planned but it's now district-wide and one of the biggest shows of the year!

Save Dec 10th for Riverside's night at McCarter Theatre's presentation of A Christmas Carol.  We will announce special pricing and ticketing information this week.  We truly appreciate Riverside parent/McCarter Exec Director Martin Miller for bringing this to Riverside and all of the schools - and we look forward to exploring more opportunities with McCarter in the future.

Thank you,

Sheppard Kaufman and Joy McPartland • Riverside PTO Co-Presidents

MORE NEWS....

5th Grade Parents: We are still in need of 5th grade event leads to help make this year special for our "graduating" Riversiders!   In the past we have generally structured the 5th grade committees as follows, but you can structure it however you feel works best.

  • 5th grade parent lead/co leads (1-2 parents - Still needed); They will oversee the committees and make sure things are happening in a timely manner.
  • Yearbook leads (2 parents - Still needed); The 5th graders love receiving this book highlighting their special time at Riverside. You'll work with our yearbook company to help make this happen - and we'd like to get some youth yearbook editors involved this year too!  The leads will work on content, theme, etc.  Although information needs to be submitted in April, we need to start gathering photos at the events now.
  • T-shirt leads (2 parents - One more needed) Each student receives a t-shirt at graduation/moving on commemorating their 5th grade year.  Parents oversee design and production.  Historically, a design contest is held among 5th grade students to create the T-shirt art.
  • End of the year party (1-2 parents - Covered)
Please email president@rspto.org if you are interested in helping or have any questions!

The After School Clubs Committee is looking for a few good organizers!  Please help keep our popular clubs running by serving on the committee.  The clubs team will meet in early December to start planning the Winter Clubs session.  For more information, contact: clubs@rspto.org  or sign-up here.

Princeton Middle School Proudly Presents “Hoodie”

A Vignette Play Written by Lindsey Price

PMS Auditorium

Friday, November 22 ~ 7:30 PM •  Saturday, November 23 ~ 7:30 PM

Middle schoolers face a tornado of questions every day. What do I wear? What if I wear the wrong thing? What is she wearing? What do I look like? Stop looking at me!  “Hoodie” examines image and appearance in the vignette style and poses what may be the most difficult question of all:  do I stay in the clump, or do I stand alone?

Ticket prices : $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors.  Tickets can be purchased in advance through our Ludus website.  Tickets can also be purchased by cash or check at the door.  If the cost of admission will present a financial hardship to families, please contact VPA Supervisor Patrick Lenihan. We’re looking forward to you joining us in celebrating the talent of our amazing, resilient, and energetic middle schoolers.
