On June 29th, 2024, John Morrison, our beloved custodian, passed away unexpectedly. Mr. John, as he was known to our students, always under-promised and over-delivered in his efforts to keep our school safe, comfortable, and functioning so our community could learn and grow to their greatest potential.
Almost three years ago, John and his wife, Miriam, began the adoption processes to bring a young girl from Miriam's homeland of the Philippines into their lives here in Portland. Leah Morrison, now 9 years old, is officially adopted and waiting on immigration processes to join her new family.
John's passing places a major burden on Miriam to fulfill their dream of bringing Leah home to Portland and raising her as a single parent. Miriam and Leah need your support to help pay for the immigration lawyer fees, airfare, clothes and other items needed for Leah's new life in Portland, and support for her long-term education.
