About the Bond

Say YES to the PPS Bond, Measure 26-259, by May 20th!

Now more than ever, Portland’s children need our support. This May, we have the chance to invest in our city’s future by voting YES on the PPS Bond ensuring our schools are safe, strong, and built to support student success.

Maintains Existing Tax Rates

This bond renews our current tax rate, delivers critical repairs to schools across Portland, and completes the modernization of our high schools - a generational investment, ensuring students and families have access to high-quality high schools no matter where they live in the district for decades to come.

Renew

The Rate You Pay Today Stays the Same.
We have a chance to invest $1.8 billion in our schools—without raising tax rates. As previous bonds expire, the 2025 Bond proposal will renew the current tax rate you already pay. That means safer, stronger, and more modern schools—at no additional cost to taxpayers.

Repair

Safe, Comfortable, and Built to Last
Portland students deserve safe, modern schools. Of the district’s 73 elementary, K-8, and middle schools, 35 were built before 1930 — 16 over a hundred years old. Many struggle with failing heating, cooling, plumbing, and roofs, leaving classrooms too cold in winter and stifling in summer. Recent experience tells us some schools are one bad storm away from closure.

A YES vote means:

  • Fixing leaking or deteriorating school roofs, mechanical systems (heating and cooling), electrical and plumbing systems, as well as windows and siding to create better learning conditions.
  • Enhanced safety and security for students and staff
  • Seismic reinforcements for stronger, more resilient schools

Modernize

Modern Schools, Modern Tools, Brighter Futures
Our students deserve up-to-date schools and learning tools. Yet, Cleveland and Ida B. Wells high schools still await modernization, and Jefferson remains unfinished. It’s time to complete the job.

A YES vote means:

  • Modernizing Cleveland and Ida B. Wells (formerly Wilson) and completing Jefferson
  • Begin modernization program of elementary and middle schools
  • Updating textbooks, technology, and learning materials
  • Upgrading athletic facilities at Grant, Roosevelt, Lincoln and Cleveland and creating district-wide sports hubs
  • Enhancing performing arts and theater spaces
