The garden committee supports maintenance and improvement of the garden space and garden programming at Rose City Park.
Our school garden is SO much more than a garden!
It is an emotional regulation space, a calm respite for kids and adults, an outdoor classroom, a hub for community building, and a learning environment that connects kids to healthy, delicious food.
Our ongoing partnership with Grow Portland is central to maintaining the school garden and getting kids and families involved. As part of this program, every class gets a monthly garden class with our amazing garden educator, Kelsi. Grow Portland also leads planting and maintenance of the garden space on the South side of the school.
The garden committee will:
- Support the existing partnership with Grow Portland.
- Lead fundraising to maintain the Grow Portland partnership each school year.
- Support garden work parties in collaboration with Grow Portland.
- Plan and implement physical improvements to the garden space (in line with our schoolyard vision), including securing in-kind and financial donations.
- Look for opportunities to enhance garden and farm-to-school programming with all of our great local partners!
This is a fun and very hands-on committee that can be flexible for both work from home and on-site, hands-in-the-dirt kind of work! Join us!
