Still need at least 10 more drivers for the High School camping trip!

Thanks to those who signed up! We are now about 88% there for the drive up on Tuesday and 75% there for the drive back on Wednesday. We still need approximately 10 more drivers.

In case you were wondering, the dates are Tuesday 9/4 and Wednesday 9/5. The drive is approximately 55 minutes. The destination is 250 Scout Ranch Road, Boulder Creek, CA 95006. We leave soon after school starts on Tues and you would likely be back in the bay area around 11 am. On Wednesday, we are coming back a bit earlier than in the past (possibly picking up at the campground around 9/9:30 am on Wednesday and getting back by 10:30 am)

If you can drive even one way please sign up to drive to and/or from the camping trip using this form: https://goo.gl/forms/eSNa9THGkqb7gFsQ2. Volunteer drivers DO NOT NEED TB Test and Background Checks. Those requirements are only for overnight volunteers.

Once you have signed up to drive, please start on your driver forms which can be found here: https://app.chalkschools.com/link_campaigns/tam-driver-application-form-electronic-form?token=6cd8df1d-3966-4355-bb15-428495edd6fb. You will also need a copy of your Current Driver’s License, Insurance Declarations Page, and your Vehicle Registration.

For questions, please email heather.chen@gmail.com.

High School Camping Trip Packing Info

What to Bring

  • Students should bring a disposable sack lunch for the first day that they will eat once they arrive at camp. Denali will provide a sack lunch for any student that qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
  • We will be short on space in cars, so please have your child pack lightly because they may need to carry some of their gear on their laps in the car.
  • Medication should be provided to the Summit Denali office before the camping trip in the original prescription containers in a ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name along with the camping medication authorization. Medication cannot be stored in students’ bags during the trip except for inhalers and for items such as epipens which are life-threatening if not kept close to student.
Here’s the packing list:
  • A bag lunch for Tuesday (Though we’ll have school bag lunches available, too!)
  • Sleeping bag or lots of blankets
  • Flashlight
  • Water bottle
  • Change of clothes
  • Comfortable clothing and walking shoes that you can get dirty and move in
  • Warm jacket / sweatshirt
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and towel (there will be sinks to wash up but no showers)
  • Sunblock/bug repellent
  • Other toiletries (deodorant, please!)
  • Baby wipes are super useful for cleaning off the dirt and dust!

  • Anything that would get damaged like electronics
  • Hair dryers/curling irons/etc
  • Extra food (raccoons! so many raccoons!)
  • Valuables
