Denali Competitive Math Team
The mission of the team is to grow students' problem solving skill, team spirit and leadership skill by participating in math competitions both as a team and individually. Expectations: 1.) Parent volunteers to host the team to solve math competition problems together. (10+ meeting per semester on Wed. between 3:45-4:45pm at Summit Denali campus) 2.) -- A 10-member team is committed to compete on Mathcounts competition (top 4 will represent Denali, and up to additional top 6 individual competitors). -- For BmMT only top 6 will be selected to form a team to participate on the Berkeley mini Math Tournament. -- All other competitions are open to whoever want to join. Mathcon :, AMC8: BAMO8: 3.) I have a BS in EECS from UC Berkeley. I had paid myself through high school and college by working as a math tutor. I have coached math competition problems in the past, and I am very passionate about math. I could contribute few half hour in the morning and/or some times on the weekend to coach solving math competition problems. 4.) When needed, we'll also consider hiring professional math tutors to help coaching couple times per semester. 5.) Most importantly, I am recruiting parents to supervise the kids every Monday after from 3:45-4:45pm to work on solving math competition problems. 6.) Multiple team leaders will be elected from the students (Team Captain, Vice Captain 1, Vice Captain 2, Vice Captain 3, Treasure, Secretary, Liaison). Tentative fees per semester: $75 per student per semester (to cover competition fees and hiring professional coach) or $25 fee reduction for every counted parent's volunteer hour until it is FREE.
