Jogathon Kickoff – Coach Brucker’s Final Laps!

The Jogathon is officially underway! On Friday, Ms. Jo Jo and the Jogathon Team visited classrooms to announce this year’s theme:

Endless Summer – Coach Brucker’s Final Laps!

We taught the kids a special song and dance, revealed their class colors, and got them excited for this year’s campaign. Your child should have brought home a pink Jogathon packet with all the details, including how to use Pledgestar and ways to get involved.

This year’s Jogathon is all about celebrating Coach Brucker’s final year at Sunset View — and we’d love your help keeping the energy going!

  • Share Coach Brucker trivia in class (questions and prizes provided)

  • Help lead the Jogathon song and dance

  • Work with your class’s Jogathon Leads or Room Parents to get involved

We’ll award prizes to classes who answer the most trivia questions correctly!

SAVE THE DATE: Friday Flag – December 19 at 9 AM

Please join us on the blacktop as we reveal the theme to Coach Brucker and kick off the celebration in person! Endless Summer logowear will be on sale in front of school Thursday and Friday before break, with hoodies, tees, beanies, and hats available online too. Let’s make this the most memorable Jogathon ever!

Pledgestar and Corporate Sponsorships are now LIVE!

Art - Liz Ramirez

Hello! My name is Liz Ramirez and I am the Art Teacher here at Sunset View and have been since 2019! I have been an Art Teacher since 2002! I have taught grades K-12 throughout Chicago, Milwaukee and now San Diego! I have a bachelor of Fine Art from Columbia College Chicago and also a Masters in Arts Education from Columbia College. I love teaching Art to all ages. In particular, introducing different materials and themes to explore and more than anything having fun in the art room. I want students to leave the Art Room having learned something new in art and feeling good about their experience! Here at Sunset View every year we have an Art Show at the end of year during open house. With parent help, we mat and display a piece of artwork completed by each student! We also exhibit a collaborative piece of work that all students participated in throughout the year. Here are some examples of Activities and Art Projects we have worked on in the Art Room! I hope to see you in the Art Room or at the end of the year Art Show to celebrate all of Sunset Views amazing Artists!

Parking

It is a well known fact that parking around Sunset View is a challenge!  Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking before and after school.  Do NOT attempt to enter the lower parking lot after 8:00am. Unless you are using a handicap spot or you are one of the two families that purchased the parking space or the golf cart spot at last year's auction, parking is NOT allowed in the lower lot during pick-up or drop off.    (Those who have students attending morning SAY may drop off before teachers arrive for the day.)

Please note that signage along Hill Street has changed and the majority of the space directly in front of the entrance is now marked as active loading/unloading. Please adhere to this new loading zone and do not park in this area if you intend to leave your vehicle.
