School Wide Sign Ups:
This is an annual tradition at Sunset View. We've gotten over 100+ cake/treat submissions for each of the last couple of years, so don't miss out! We will be accepting any kind of decorated Halloween treat- cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cake pops, muffins- you name it- just get your baking and decorating materials ready. Judges will be awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place amongst three different categories, in each grade. All entries need to be dropped off in the Art Room (B5) on Friday October 18th. The attached entry flier should accompany each submission for the contest. Calling all Military Kids/Families for the Military Kids Club!
A new morning club is starting that will be run by Vanessa Marin (Naval Base Point Loma School Liaison) with the support of Shannon McCormack, SVE School Counselor. The club is open to all SVE students in military families, and students are allowed to join in at any point throughout the year. If interested, the parents will need to sign the permission slip which can be returned to Shannon (either by email or dropped off in the mailbox/front office). If anyone has any further questions, contact Shannon or Vanessa (vanessa.o.marin.naf@us.navy.
This information will also be shared in the Military Family Support Group. If you're a military family, check out the Social group!

Many companies offer Corporate Matches when employees donate to a non-profit organization. If your company is one of them, please be sure to indicate it on your donation so we can account for the match in our fundraising numbers and be sure to give you credit towards your family's overall pledged amount. For questions on Corporate Matches, please contact Liz Belding via Konstella.
Corporate Sponsorships
With the start of the new school year, we're seeking Corporate Sponsors to allow local businesses to support KidsFirst funded programs while gaining exposure in our local Point Loma community throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Please find details regarding the sponsorship levels attached and make a donation HERE This link is for businesses owned or operated by Sunset View families and is a private link on Konstella. If you know of a local business, outside of the SVE Community, that is interested in donating, please share this link with them --> Outside (Non-SVE) Corporate Sponsors. Please note that all sponsors donating at least $500 will be included on this year's Jog-A-Thon t-shirts which will be distributed to approximately 450 students, teachers, and parents. Banners for Hill Street will be ordered on October 11th. While sponsorships are accepted at any time, please note that sponsorships purchased after this date may result in the delayed posting of banners. For any questions regarding Corporate Sponsorships, please contact Jill Bruckart.
Everyone A Reader Volunteers
We still need 10 - 15 Volunteers for this Program!
Sunset View’s Everyone A Reader (EAR) program is starting again this year, and we are in need of approximately 20 parent volunteers. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to become a trained reading tutor in a program designed by the San Diego County Office of Education. You will read one-on-one with four students in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade to improve their reading skills with proven strategies to reach a higher reading level. It is a one-hour weekly reading commitment at a fixed time, followed by about 5-10 minutes of paperwork/record keeping. You will be reading with the same students (teacher selected) each week, building a relationship and helping them improve their reading skills, fluency and confidence. Please contact Colleen Smiley, email colleenclardy@gmail.com
There will be a one-hour training session in late September/early October in the library. The EAR program runs from October through May. If you are unable to volunteer on a weekly basis but are still interested in helping with Everyone A Reader, please contact Colleen.
