Running Club Scanners - Please sign up!
If you scan during running club, even as a last-minute stand in, please be sure to sign up on Konstella as well even after Running Club so that we have a record of who scanned that day. There have been issues with scans not uploading or needing reload and our leads don't know who you are.  Leads need to be able to contact volunteer scanners in case there are adjustments to be made.
 Annual Giving is Underway!
Don't forget to RSVP/acknowledge that our Annual Giving campaign is underway.  You can do so here -->Acknowledge Annual Giving.   The goal is for all classes to achieve a 95% acknowledgement rate.  (This acknowledgement does not commit you to donate but rather confirms you know our Annual Giving campaign is occurring.) All classes reaching 95% will receive a reward.  There are 4 classes at 95% or more: Kaase, Punzalan, Alegre and O’Leary
Most classes only need 1-4 more families to qualify. Other class standings:

Check your child's folder/binder as an Annual Giving Campaign information sheet was sent home on Friday.  Note that KidsFirst has budgeted an average of $698/student in this school year's budget.  Donations are accepted and welcomed in any amount!  Please note that donations at the $2,500 / $1,500 / $1,000 levels come with benefits that are distributed throughout the school year.  Make your Annual Giving Donation HERE .

If you'd like to share this opportunity with family and friends please consider sharing this link DONATE NOW

Prefer to sponsor a Legacy Event and select exactly where your money is used?  Then consider selecting one or more items on our Legacy Event Sponsor Page.  These items range from $300 to $1,250 and you can choose more than one item.  Sponsor a Legacy Event HERE.

Many companies offer Corporate Matches when employees donate to a non-profit organization.  If your company is one of them, please be sure to indicate it on your donation so we can account for the match in our fundraising numbers and be sure to give you credit towards your family's overall pledged amount.  For questions on Corporate Matches, please contact Liz Belding via Konstella.

Corporate Sponsorships
With the start of the new school year, we're seeking Corporate Sponsors to allow local businesses to support KidsFirst funded programs while gaining exposure in our local Point Loma community throughout the 2023-2024 school year.  Please find details regarding the sponsorship levels attached and make a donation HERE This link is for businesses owned or operated by Sunset View families and is a private link on Konstella.  If you know of a local business, outside of the SVE Community, that is interested in donating, please share this link with them --> Outside (Non-SVE) Corporate Sponsors. Please note that all sponsors donating at least $500 will be included on this year's Jog-A-Thon t-shirts which will be distributed to approximately 450 students, teachers, and parents.  For any questions regarding Corporate Sponsorships, please contact Jill Bruckart.

Everyone A Reader Volunteers

Sunset View’s Everyone A Reader (EAR) program is starting again this year, and we are in need of approximately 20 parent volunteers. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to become a trained reading tutor in a program designed by the San Diego County Office of Education. You will read one-on-one with four students in 1st,  2nd, or 3rd  grade to improve their reading skills with proven strategies to reach a higher reading level.  It is a one-hour weekly reading commitment at a fixed time, followed by about 5-10 minutes of paperwork/record keeping. You will be reading with the same students (teacher selected) each week, building a relationship and helping them improve their reading skills, fluency and confidence. Please contact Colleen Smiley, email colleenclardy@gmail.com or text 781-364-0074 to volunteer or for more information.

There will be a one-hour training session in late September/early October in the library. The EAR program runs from October through May. If you are unable to volunteer on a weekly basis but are still interested in helping with Everyone A Reader, please contact Colleen.

Parking
It is a well known fact that parking around Sunset View is a challenge!  Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking before and after school.  Do NOT attempt to enter the lower parking lot after 8:00am. Unless you are using a handicap spot or you are one of the two families that purchased the parking space or the golf cart spot at last year's auction, parking is NOT allowed in the lower lot during pick-up or drop off.    (Those who have students attending morning SAY may drop off before teachers arrive for the day.) Additionally, please do not park in the PWP Auction spot. You too will have an opportunity to purchase this spot at this year's Party with a Purpose.

New Parking Signage - PICK UP/DROP OFF ONLY

Please note that signage along Hill Street has changed and the majority of the space directly in front of the entrance is now marked as active loading/unloading. Please adhere to this new loading zone and do not park in this area if you intend to leave your vehicle.
