Walk-to-School Day is next Wednesday October 2nd - Join us as we all walk together from Peet's Coffee!
We will be meeting as a group in front of Peet's Coffee & Tea (955 Catalina Blvd.) at 8:10 am and encourage all SVE families to join us so that we can walk together!
Local SDPD officers will be there to greet the children, hand out stickers, and will escort us again this year with police motorcycles!  McGruff the Crime Dog will also be making an appearance.
We will be leaving from Peet's Coffee at 8:25 am and walking to Sunset View Elementary (to be there in time for Running Club). Children participating in Walk-to-School Day will receive a Walk-to-School keychain.
Please wear your Sunset View Logo gear (hats, shirts, etc.) so that we can represent our amazing school to the community!

Many companies offer Corporate Matches when employees donate to a non-profit organization.  If your company is one of them, please be sure to indicate it on your donation so we can account for the match in our fundraising numbers and be sure to give you credit towards your family's overall pledged amount.  For questions on Corporate Matches, please contact Liz Belding via Konstella.

Corporate Sponsorships
With the start of the new school year, we're seeking Corporate Sponsors to allow local businesses to support KidsFirst funded programs while gaining exposure in our local Point Loma community throughout the 2023-2024 school year.  Please find details regarding the sponsorship levels attached and make a donation
HERE This link is for businesses owned or operated by Sunset View families and is a private link on Konstella.  If you know of a local business, outside of the SVE Community, that is interested in donating, please share this link with them --> Outside (Non-SVE) Corporate Sponsors. Please note that all sponsors donating at least $500 will be included on this year's Jog-A-Thon t-shirts which will be distributed to approximately 450 students, teachers, and parents.  For any questions regarding Corporate Sponsorships, please contact Jill Bruckart.

Everyone A Reader Volunteers

We still need 10 - 15 Volunteers for this Program! Sunset View’s Everyone A Reader (EAR) program is starting again this year, and we are in need of approximately 20 parent volunteers. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to become a trained reading tutor in a program designed by the San Diego County Office of Education. You will read one-on-one with four students in 1st,  2nd, or 3rd  grade to improve their reading skills with proven strategies to reach a higher reading level.  It is a one-hour weekly reading commitment at a fixed time, followed by about 5-10 minutes of paperwork/record keeping. You will be reading with the same students (teacher selected) each week, building a relationship and helping them improve their reading skills, fluency and confidence. Please contact Colleen Smiley, email colleenclardy@gmail.com or text 781-364-0074 to volunteer or for more information.

There will be a one-hour training session in late September/early October in the library. The EAR program runs from October through May. If you are unable to volunteer on a weekly basis but are still interested in helping with Everyone A Reader, please contact Colleen.

Board Game Donations Needed for Mindfulness
Mrs. Eriksson is looking for any used board games families are looking to offload. They will be used to practice mindfulness strategies. Please bring by classroom B3 before or after school.
