For Lunar New Year, celebrating the Year of the Horse, students explored how artists use observation and line to capture movement. They began by practicing gesture drawings and sketching horses in Procreate on the iPad using the Apple Pencil, focusing on quick lines that show the energy and form of the animal. After experimenting with several sketches, each student selected their favorite drawing and refined it by improving line quality and varying line weight. Finally, students applied the digital art tools they have been learning throughout the year to add color and bring their horse illustrations to life.
