Dear Families,
Schools are being encouraged to make sure everyone is ready to pivot to a remote learning day on Monday, January 26, if the snowfall is as predicted.
In the event of a remote day, or in preparation for that possibility, you will get a message directly from your child’s teacher about the remote learning plan for Monday, along with links to any learning websites, Google Classrooms depending on grade level, and resources you may need. If you have questions about any of these materials, you can ask your child’s teacher as a first step.
If you are in need of a device, we do have some at school that can be sent home with children today. Please email diane@bns146.org with the subject line “Device Needed” and include your child’s name and class in the email.
If you are having a tough time with something technology-related, you can email ed@bns146.org, our tech specialist. Ed works for both BNS and BCS and is likely to be a bit busy Monday (if there is a remote day) helping where needed, but he will do his best. You can also reach out to Diane@bns146.org, Shelley@bns146.org, and Fernando@bns146.org, and we will do our best to help troubleshoot any issues as well.
If you/your child need(s) access to your child’s NYCStudents account, here is a link to a page to help reset that password and access the account. If you need help with this account, email diane@bns146.org and fernando@bns146.org - whoever sees your email first will reply and help to reset the account and/or password. This is also a good moment to review the DOE’s Digital Citizenship guide with your child. This is also a good moment to review the DOE’s Digital Citizenship guide with your child.
We know that everyone is different - some children may love the novel nature of a remote learning day, some of our older children may have memories triggered from remote/hybrid Kindergarten, some children may not be able to sustain their attention to a remote learning day - please be in touch with your child’s teacher if you have concerns, as we are all aware of necessary flexibility on a day like this one.
Stay warm, stay cozy, and look out for a message if we get an update about a remote day decision.
Diane
