LETTER FROM LEADERSHIP
Dear BNS,
At a recent meeting, a family asked about our partnership with BAX, and I found myself chronicling a 30+ year, deeply interwoven relationship, one that significantly ties into our approach and practice as a school community. I pretty quickly realized that for many of our families, the power of this work and the depth of our program is not fully known.
Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) that was founded in 1991, not too far from that 1987 mark when BNS first opened its doors. The bonds from those early years still hold many layers of our community together in the present day.

BNS COSTUME POLICY
New York City is a wonderful mosaic of cultures and cultural celebrations. Halloween is one of these cherished celebrations for some. We ask that it be celebrated after school, not during the school day. Please do not send children to school wearing costumes.

PTA FUN RUN

Council Member Shahana Hanif and the PTAs of Brooklyn’s public schools are coming together for the 17th annual PTA 5K+ run/walk/stroll/toddle/scoot in Prospect Park. The race will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10 AM. Bib pickup and pre-race activities will begin at 9:00 AM.
For over a decade now, the PTA Fun Run has been a community day in Prospect Park for local public school communities. Parents, students, and educators have showed up to build community have collectively raised funds for our neediest schools (Net proceeds from your registration fees will go to support PTAs at high need schools).
The Fun Run will be a 3.3 mile loop, starting and finishing on the main park drive just outside the LeFrak Center. The run will start at 10 AM. Bib distribution and pre-race activities will begin inside the LeFrak Center starting at 9 AM. As a fun run, we welcome everyone-- young, old, experienced and not, runners, walkers, strollers, tricycles, scooters, wheelchairs-- all are invited to join!

2026 YOUTHWORKS
Join BAX on Sunday, December 7th for our YouthWorks Orientation in their Theater to learn more and kick off the 2026 YouthWorks season!
The YouthWorks program for artists ages 8-18 beginning Sunday afternoons in December and a culminating performance showcase on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
