What do CECs do? Why is it important to vote?

CECs provide recommendations and feedback on district needs and DOE policies, acting as advocates for parents and the district.

They review educational programs, assess their impact on student achievement, and provide input on district concerns.

CECs have the power to approve school district zoning lines.

They hold monthly public meetings with the Community Superintendent, allowing parents and the community to share concerns.

CECs evaluate the superintendent annually and participate in the process of hiring superintendents and parent coordinators.

They hold public hearings on the district's capital needs and submit a plan to the Chancellor.

CECs organize town halls with the Chancellor to discuss school issues and gather community input.

They serve as liaisons to School Leadership Teams and support school communities by connecting parents with resources.
