Hello Earth School Families, Teachers and Staff,
So there is this really wonderful idea that we're very excited about and we'd like to invite you to be a part of it.
We have this amazing roof top farm on our school building (The Fifth Street Farm). Earth School students love being up there and learning about gardening, plants, eating vegetables and drinking in the sunshine.
What if we ALSO had a colorful children's book that communicates the essential information such as: life cycle of plants; seasonal work done and crops grown in our garden; how we plant seeds and transplant seedlings; and how we harvest, store, prepare and eat our crops. AND what if it featured beautiful illustrations and color photographs of students doing the actual work of planting, tending, harvesting, preparing and eating those crops?
How excited would you be to read that book to your child or your classroom?
- a writer (especially of curriculum and/or children's literature!)
- an illustrator
- a graphic designer
- someone who works and/or has experience in the publishing business (layout, editing, etc)
- a gardener
- a cook
- someone who just loves working on cool projects
We are working on some grants proposals for this idea and we'd love to get together a committee/core group of interested people.
So please send your emails to Frances Anderson (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let us know what you think! (as in "Count me in!" or "I have a question/contact/referral" or anything else you want to say about the project idea).
Thank you! We look forward to working with you!
