This Is Why We Need YOU in Albany!

Dear Charter School Families,

Governor Cuomo released his proposed education budget on Tuesday. It includes three items related to charter schools, and it confirms that our advocacy efforts remain relevant. Let’s show the Governor our support!

Here is what the Governor is proposing for the 2018-19 fiscal year:
  • Increase charter schools’ funding by 3%.

  • Clarify the Facilities Access Law for charter schools: actual rental costs eligible for reimbursement should include not only the cost of lease payments, but related expenses, like capital improvements, occupancy costs, real property taxes, maintenance and repairs, custodial, insurance and utilities.

  • End school lunch shaming: Charters and other public schools are directed to develop programs and steps to ensure that “lunch shaming” does not take place.
We believe these proposals will benefit NYC’s charter schools and we need your help in supporting their passage. We need you to join us for Charter School Advocacy Day in Albany on Tuesday February 6!
