"The students will get to try their hand at a little bit of everything during our Fine Arts half day classes.  We’ll learn about famous artists and use their work as inspiration for our projects.  Students will get the chance to try out an array of art mediums and techniques.  We will learn about different forms of printmaking relief, mono and screen printing. The children will be working with clay, both hand build and on the pottery wheel. We will then practice drawing techniques with still lives and figure drawing working on composition, layout, perspective, line, and shading.

We will even combine some of the art mediums to create unique mixed media projects. This is a great chance for your child to try out new art processes, while learning about the history of fine art.

ICS student’s will be picked up at the 55 Willoughby location at 12:20 pm, we will then take the 2/3 train to the Barclays center. Located right across from the studio at 592 Pacific St. Brooklyn, NY 11217. The students will first have snack which the parents will pack for them. Please pack a water bottle, we have a water cooler onsite they can use.  We will then have a short explanation of the days projects followed by a demo.

It is the Thursday ICS Students Ceramics class. It runs from 3:30-5:30 and is an additional $440 per kid.
About the class:
In our after school ceramics class we will learn about classic hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction that form the foundations of all hand-built pottery. Students will produce several realistic, functional and abstract projects, such as cups, bowls, figures, as well as wearable pieces like ceramic beads, and rings that can be incorporated into handmade jewelry. In addition to building each project by hand, we encourage students to personalize their work through a variety of glazing techniques used at different stages of creation, including dipping, brushing and layering glazes. The students will hone their artistic style by working on a wide variety of ceramic projects aimed at teaching them various pottery skills. They will take each of these projects home with them after their clay pieces are fired in our kiln, giving them long-lasting mementos of their artistic pursuits.
Please feel free to reach out to Rene Czika with any questions.
