The literacy committee is VERY excited to announce that One School One Book is starting on Monday. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire ICS community to read together and promote literacy.
The book will be revealed to the children on Monday in a very spirit filled assembly. (This is for the students only).
The children will bring home one copy of the book per family with a reading schedule in their backpacks at the end of the day. The younger sibling will be the one bringing home the book.
All we ask is for the family to read the assigned chapters (about 15 minutes) every night per the schedule. Even if your child is a proficient reader, the purpose is for the grown-up to read TO the child. Please try to adhere to the schedule so the kids can participate in exciting trivia questions the next day.
We are attaching 2 files, one explaining the OSOB program and ten tips for reading to your child.
Enjoy and happy reading! Antonia and Ingrid and the rest of the ICS Literacy Committee
