Calling all Thunderbirds - SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER! 

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is taking place on November 14th, 8:15-8:40am and we need your help to make it a success!

Ruby Bridges was six years old in 1960 when she became the first black student to attend a previously all-white school in New Orleans. She grew up to become a tireless campaigner for racial and social justice in the US. For the last few weeks, Thornhill students have been learning about her life and work. This event is an opportunity for our communities to come together and reflect on our shared history, discuss the changes our communities hope to see and take action. In her own words, it will be a celebration to promote ‘the values of tolerance, respect and appreciation of all differences’. 

We need parents to line the sidewalks in front of the school, encourage our kiddos, play music, dance, wave flags and create a festive vibe for morning drop off. Please wear purple and consider arriving at the gates a few minutes early to create a tunnel of positivity for your children and their classmates to walk through. Parents' help is truly appreciated and we know our students will love to see their grown ups support them for a few minutes on this special day.
