Expanding Home Delivery of OUSD Meals and Fresh Produce
To address the issue described above, we are expanding home delivery of OUSD student meals. After a month long pilot, we are thrilled to announce that starting on Monday Oct 19th OUSD families throughout Oakland will be able to sign up for weekly home delivery of OUSD meals
What is included?
Once enrolled, families will receive:
A week’s worth of OUSD meals for each child in the house
Starting in November, with the generous support of the philanthropic community, twice a month families will also receive a fresh box of vegetables.
Who is eligible to sign up for home delivery?
Any OUSD student and any of their siblings (18 years old and younger) who live in the same household are eligible for meal delivery (even if the sibling attends a charter school or is too young for school). We can also provide meals to special needs adults between 18 and 22 if enrolled in OUSD. One student in the household must be an OUSD student for the household to be eligible for home delivery . Other Oakland families with non-OUSD students can still come to a meal distribution site to pick up meals.
To sign up, you will need the OUSD ID number of at least one child in the household.
Most students know their ID number. The ID number is the student’s lunch number and their technology password during distance learning. If you don’t know your child’s ID number, you can contact your school site.
How do families sign up for Home Delivery?
Families can enroll directly by filling out one of these google forms.
We fully appreciate that not all families can easily complete google forms. Over the next few weeks, Nutrition Service staff and community partners will be contacting families to help them enroll in meal delivery. During the pilot, we were signing up about 500 families per week.
