We’re making a change to pickup effective immediately.

On regular days (not Wed/min days) we will no longer arrange pickup volunteers for the 2:15pm TK/K bell. Some parents who already volunteer and use the pickup line have offered to step in and “open” the pickup line so cones are in the right place when they arrive in their cars.

Families will have to exit their cars at 2:15pm to get their student from the gate. Cars will be asked to leave the pickup line as normal. Those with older kids may stay but we ask you to pull forward as always so other cars can get in line. We’ll be there to manage pickup before the 2nd bell as normal.

It’s become clear that TK/K pickup can work well without volunteers this way. It also means that volunteers don’t have to spend an hour more each day running pickup.

Instead, pickup for 1-5 Grade at 2:50pm will continue with volunteers, as we have done since August.

On Wednesdays and minimum days, we’ll continue to operate a pickup line for TK-5.

This has been decided in part because of the heat wave this week. We don’t think standing outside for 60 minutes in peak sun with minimal shade is a good idea and we’re going to have to do this anyway.

At this point we think the process is working well enough and it shouldn’t impact traffic seriously.
