- Toyology (Wednesday, April 3 from 1:25-2:20pm): 19 spots!
We have a fun class being offered on during Spring Conference week. It's a minimum day and there are no enrichment classes that week! Keep your kid(s) busy building an exciting hands-on science toy. They will learn a major scientific concept such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism and/or simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in this class that is unlike any of the projects in the Toyology enrichment class. Healthy snacks will be provided during the class. Grades TK-5th.
- Beginner Capoeira with Maya Novak (Saturday, April 6 from 9-10:15am): 2 spots!
Learn the dynamic Afro-Brazilian art form of Capoeira Angola from our very own teacher Maya Novak at ICAF Oakland. You will be introduced to 30 minutes of music – learning the names of instruments, play rhythms, and sing. Followed by 45 minutes of learning basic Capoeira Angola movements. This is a not to be missed opportunity to learn this beautiful combination of dancing, martial arts, acrobatics, traditions and live music. All levels of physical ability encouraged. Adults only.

Dailey Method - Sangria Barre (Saturday, April 27 from 5:30-7:30pm): 13 spots!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on science experience and learning, including DNA extraction from strawberries on Saturday, May 4 from 9am-12pm. Calling all Padawans and Jedi Masters! Come join us at the Urbano Starship on May the 4th for Jedi training and crafts. We will have outdoor challenges to test your Empire-battling skills, indoor crafts to add to your warrior costumes and lots of space-themed treats. Students get 2 hours to hone their Jedi skills and parents get 2 hours to do whatever they want! Grab a friend and sign up to help the rebels in their quest for balance in the force. Sign up for the after-hours private party at the Benefit Cosmetics Boutique in Berkeley. Guests will be treated to small bites and bubbly while getting one-on-one pampering. Kindergarten Tea Party (Saturday, May 18 from 11am-2pm): 6 spots!
For all Kindergarteners, join us for a Tea Party! Kids can bring their favorite lovey or stuffed animal. We will have "tea," snacks, and fun activities for the kids and some of the Adventure Time staff are joning us to face and/or henna paint and braid hair. 4th Grade Welcome Back Pool Party! (Saturday, August 10 from 12-5pm): 1 spot!
Incoming 4th graders and families join us to celebrate the start of another school year with a pool-side party! Enjoy the pool and catch up with fellow Thornhill friends while listening to the beats of DJ Noah (Isaiah's Dad!). Enjoy drinks in the sun and pork on the grill (kid-friendly hot dogs and snacks will be available as well). Food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and a lifeguard will be provided so everyone can relax and enjoy the summer sun. This is a family friendly event so bring the whole family (up to 5 people per family) and head over to the Proudfoot home for the afternoon. Hygge Party...what? Hygge (pronounced "HUE-gah") is defined as "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment of well-being." Okay, who doesn't want to be cozy on a chilly November evening. Sign up for a night of mulled wine, yummy snacks, and yarn craft. Enjoy the company of others in your school community, eat tasty munchies and walk away with something cozy to wear or for your home. Open to adults and kids (3rd grade and up). 5th Grade Legendary Lock-In! (Friday TBD): Unlimited spots!
Mr. Wilkins, Mrs. Bernard, Ms. Contreras, and Mrs. Larsen will treat the 5th graders to a wild night at Thornhill School. This won't be like your daily Thornhill experience, filled with teacher's lengthy lectures, mundane math, and endless essays. No schoolwork allowed on this night! Instead, you will be treated to an adventurous evening of fun where we do all sorts of things kids are normally not allowed to do at school. Legend has it that lots of rules are broken; and though all are sworn to secrecy, whispers seem to hint at rambunctious relay races in the hallway, pizza and root beer floats in the teachers' lunch room, throwing whipped cream in teachers' faces... and many more crazy surprises in store.
