From your VP Communication Chairs, Evie Nagy & Erin Proudfoot
Dear Thornhill Community,
We hope everyone has been doing as well as possible this summer, enriching your little learners’ lives with virtual camps, time outside in nature, and hours and hours of screen time while you try to finish even one thing you started for work or the house.
While we don’t know exactly what school will look like when it starts on August 10, we do know that we still need a full PFC Board to help support our children in new, challenging circumstances. We have a strong group of folks already on board for the coming year, but a few roles still need to be filled. And we get it — it’s hard to plan more than a day at a time right now. But in less than two weeks, we’ll need to help our kids and teachers adapt to as dependable and enriching a school routine and community as possible.
We need you - yes, you - yes, we're talking to YOU!
5th Grade Liaison. Our 5th graders are going to need us more than ever this year, and we need 1-2 parents to take the lead to make sure this year is special. Normally, this position organizes the 5th grade fundraiser to help pay for Marin Headlands, works with the VP Treasurer to distribute PFC funds earmarked for the 5th grade class, and organizes the yearbook.
Parliamentarian. We’ve been without a parliamentarian for several years and we are hurting because of it. We desperately need someone to lead the charge of reviewing our bylaws! The parliamentarian doesn’t have to be one doing this, but needs to find someone knowledgeable to help us make sure we are doing everything right.
Merchant Partnerships. This position coordinates all of our partnerships such as AmazonSmile, Shutterfly, and Primary.com. When we are able, the position would organize the Dine Outs. Erin Fredrick did this very capably for the last 2 years and can tell you everything you need to know.
Below are positions that are open, but are not as urgent of a need:
Auction Co-Chair. We have one chair and are looking for someone to join her! While we may not have an in-person auction (really, who knows at this point), we definitely still need to raise money and think creatively how we can do this virtually in a fun way.
Spring Walkathon. As previously announced, we have moved our Walkathon to the Spring to spread out our fundraising efforts. We sincerely hope we’ll be able to hold this event in the spring.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope you will very seriously consider helping the PFC - and our kids - in one of the roles listed above. (See full descriptions here.)
