With school starting in less than a week, I want to take a minute to let you know that your Thornhill Parent Faculty Club (PFC) is swinging into action. The PFC Board met on Monday night, and I want to thank everyone who is taking on a volunteer role in an effort to ensure that our school has a strong year ahead. I especially want to thank Alicia Streight, who has come on board as our PFC Co-President this year.
To say this school year will be unlike any other really is an understatement. There will be changes and stresses that all of us—parents, children, teachers and school staff—will experience for the first time. One thing that has always made Thornhill special is the involvement of all of us in building and supporting our community. Those efforts will be more necessary than ever this year. The PFC is already laying the groundwork for making sure our community stays connected and that Thornhill and all of our children will continue to thrive during the current social situation.
I encourage all of you to keep an eye open for information about Back To School Night activities with your child’s class. And, please attend the next PFC meeting, which will be held virtually on Monday, September 14, from 5:30-7 p.m. More information about how to attend the meeting remotely will be forthcoming via Konstella.
Whether you have been at Thornhill for a year or more, or you are new to the school, you are part of the PFC. This is your organization, and your involvement is always welcome. And just by being here, you are showing your support for your community, and for the mission of our public schools.
