Thunderbirds,
As you are aware, there is a potential OEA (Oakland Education Association) strike planned for tomorrow, Thursday, May 4. We are not sending this message to provide details about the negotiations or support either side. We understand that OUSD will be sending a ParentSquare message sometime today regarding how school would function.
In the event of a strike, we want to be ready to support both our teachers on the picket line and our school administration (along with teachers who choose not to strike) who will be working at the school.
Staff at the School
To help support our staff at school, we want to get a sense of how many students might be attending school and therefore the support they might need. Please email volunteer@thornhillschool.org if you are able to volunteer at the school.
Please fill out this anonymous google form to let us know your attendance plans.
Teachers on the Picket Line
To help support our striking teachers and families choosing to keep their students out of school, a parent not affiliated with the PFC has organized support resources.
Please view this google document for support information for teachers and families.
Whether you choose to send your kid(s) to school or not is completely your choice. In either case, zero judgment will be made on what you decide is best for your family. We ask everyone for their patience and grace during these trying times and hope for a fair contract to be settled quickly.
Best,
Thornhill PFC
