Our annual Read-a-thon will take place March 30 - April 14. This event is all about supporting and celebrating our fabulous culture of reading at Thornhill. It is also a fundraiser for the PFC, which provides funding for the library and PFC staff. Any and all support is very much appreciated.
But most importantly, everyone is welcome to join in the reading fun! Invites to your Read-a-thon page will arrive via email this week. There you can track reading, personalize your page, and share with families and friends.
All Thornhill readers will be invited to pop open a good book over break with a bag of popcorn and a reading-tracker bookmark - both will be delivered to classrooms on Thursday, 3/30!
Stay tuned for more information about the Read & Feed Evening Event (4/12) and the Book Swap (4/14).
Prizes will be as follows:
- Individuals who:
- Complete a reading log bookmark over Spring Break and bring it back will:
- Receive a color scratch bookmark.
- Be entered into a raffle for a special book-themed stuffy!
- Read the most minutes in their classroom will receive a gift card to a local bookstore.
- Whole Class with the most participation (highest percentage of students recording reading time): Donut party!
- Whole School: If we reach announced milestones in reading time and fundraising, teachers and staff will do wacky things…. Pies in the face! Ice buckets on heads! Walking on hands! Stay tuned for updates.
