Read-a-thon is here… kick-off event on Wednesday, April 3!
Wed, Mar 27 6:07pm
Thornhill Elementary

Dear Thunderbird Families,

The Read-a-thon is here - one of our children’s most favorite events of the year and maybe more importantly, our very last fundraiser of the year. (Woo Hoo!) We have a goal of $15,000 to raise and we need your help! Soon we will have all the information you need to create your Read-a-thon account, start collecting money, and begin reading, but in the meantime...

We want to see everyone at Thornhill for the Read-a-Thon kickoff event, Pictures & Pajamas, on Wednesday, April 3 from 5:30-7pm in the multi-purpose room with author-illustrator team, Wednesday Kirwan and Matt Heroux of Owl Love You. Join us for this wonderful event where you can register as a reader, enjoy cozy places to read, participate in fun book-related activities, and eat snacks! We invite you to participate in this fundraiser that not only supports Thornhill’s fundraising efforts but also cultivates each student’s commitment to literacy.

We need volunteers to make this event work…
please (please!) sign up here to volunteer as soon as you can.

Students will enjoy author visits from Judd Winick, author of the bestselling series Hilo, and Audrey Smit and Jackie Knapp of children’s travel book series, Lily Huckleberry. To build community and incentivize reading, classes can compete to win a classroom Mac & Cheese lunch party courtesy of Homeroom, an ice cream party for top readers and fundraisers, and more! Teachers and staff members have been known to motivate their students by offering to share talents (like walking on their hands!) or even having a pie thrown in their face…

Funds raised will support the library, technology updates, and PFC-funded staff.

Thanks for supporting our amazing readers, and happy reading!
