Hello Thornhill community
To all who participated--and there were many--by volunteering and/or having their kids join us at the Solidarity School this past week, as well as joining the picket line, we are deeply grateful. I think I'm speaking for all the volunteers when I say that it's been a profound experience in connecting with our community in this unique way as well as loads of fun connecting with our kids! On Thursday and Friday, the Solidarity School hosted between 20-25 kids and I think it's safe to say that they enjoyed themselves and may have even learned a thing or two. Meanwhile on the picket line, teachers, parents, kids, neighbors and community sang, danced and showed incredible support and energy.
We are now working on staffing for the next week and are in need of volunteers, especially for Monday and Tuesday. Please volunteer if you're able. We are committed to keeping the Solidarity School open but cannot unless we have enough volunteers. Additionally, next week will bring rain, and our picket line will welcome your warmth to keep the fire burning.
Solidarity School needs:
Monday, we need 3 more in the morning and 2 more in the afternoon.
Tuesday, we need 6 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.
See pictures of our teachers & community on the picket line as well as the amazing short documentary that a Sequoia parent created about the strike.
And thank you!
