Hello Thornhill community:
The Read-a-thon has officially started - let the search for reading treasure begin! Email invitations went out this week from 99Pledges.com where you can log your student's reading minutes.
See below for all of the details:
Tuesday, January 27th: Book Swap!
- You are welcome to bring gently used children's books to the front entrance way starting Tuesday, January 20th.
- All students will be able to bring at least one new-to-them book home.
- It is a wonderful opportunity to go through your book shelves at home and find titles that your family is ready to part with that another family will happily receive!
- Leftover books will go to classrooms or be donated to the East Bay Children’s Book Project.
Wednesday, January 28th: Dress like a book character day AND the Read & Feed!
- Your student is invited to dress like a favorite book character during the school day… and then share it with more of the community that night at the Read & Feed!
- Your reply helps us plan for the amount of food we need to order, so please RSVP for the Read & Feed, January 28, from 5:30-7pm.
- If you are able to help with donating materials or offsetting the cost for pizza for the event, sign-up here - thank you!
We will gather in the Multi-Purpose Room for a celebration of reading, eating, and community. There will be art projects with Ms. Gelbron, delicious pizza dinner, and spaces to hang out and read together. It is a wonderful community event and we look forward to celebrating with you all.
Please contact us at readathon@thornhillschool.org with any questions.
Wishing you luck on your hunt for reading treasure!
With gratitude,
Marie Fox and Jane Yi
