Hillsborough Township Public Schools will hold a referendum on March 12, 2019. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This referendum will ask residents to vote on the implementation of a full-day kindergarten program as well as ensuring long-term financial stability.
Hillsborough is one of only three districts in Somerset County that only offers a half-day kindergarten. Approximately 90% of district in New Jersey have a full-day kindergarten.
At the February 11th Board of Education meeting, Hillsborough early education teachers spoke of a full-day kindergarten as the foundation for future learning. Our teachers shared thoughts on how a full-day program will provide Hillsborough students with opportunities to explore and learn without the time restraints and pressures that come with a half-day program. They also provided insight on the changes over the past 20 years of what is expected of our youngest learners. To view this presentation, please click here.
