Dear VVE Families and Teachers,

As we begin a new school year, we want to invite you to be part of something that makes a real difference in the lives of our children: our PTA.

We know how busy life is. Between work, school, practices, homework, appointments, dinner, and everything in between, adding one more thing to the calendar can feel like a lot. But we also know that our children only get these elementary school years once.

I remember when I was at a VV fundraiser event just 4 years ago, and my friend and neighbor said these three words: just say yes. Yikes! Scary! But okay, let's go!

The PTA is made up of parents and caregivers just like you—people with full schedules, different talents, different levels of availability, and one thing in common: we want our kids to have an amazing school experience.

You don’t have to chair a committee, or attend every meeting, or give hours every week. We simply ask that you consider saying yes in whatever way you can.

Maybe you can help at one event. Maybe you can volunteer for a committee. Maybe you have an hour to share, a skill you can contribute, or an idea that could make something better. Every task matters. Approaching quickly, we have two BIG events that can use helpers: our Viking Fun Run fundraiser, as well as our Valle Verde Fall Carnival. The list goes on, and rest assured whatever your interest or talent is, there’s a place for it in our PTA. When you get involved, you aren’t just checking a box or helping an event run smoothly. You are becoming more connected to VVE and help create an environment where our kids can learn, grow, belong, and thrive.

PTA funds and supports programs, experiences, and opportunities that enrich our children’s education. With your help, we can continue to grow the programs that are working, renew the ones that need a little love, and create new opportunities for our students.

And one important note: in order to serve as a committee leader or committee member, you must be a registered member of the PTA. So this year, we hope you’ll ask yourself: What can I say yes to? We hope you’ll join us. Your time, your voice, and your involvement matter.

And lastly, our first PTA meeting will be Tuesday, September 8th at 7pm via Zoom.
