4th/5th Grade Play

This committee is for organizing the 4th/5th Grade Play.  All those interested in joining this committee may sign up for a lead position as shown below.  Most lead positions will have people working on your team.  Some of these positions are work from home positions, some are nights and weekend work and some require attending at least some rehearsals.  These are jobs that need to be filled for the play to be successful.

Assistant Producer Signed Up: 0 / 1

Assist Producer as necessary. January-Feb: Attend Rehearsals Mondays, learn script, assist with taking attendance- Make phone calls /text if not there, answer parent questions, etc. Purchase "prizes" for whole cast rehearsals Attend all rehearsals last two weeks of Feb. March: Attend tech rehearsals March 6th & 8th Attend Dress, assist with volunteers, rehearsal parents & communication. Performances: Manage the parent volunteers back stage (in library) during school & regular performances. Ensure Makeup team set up and staffed. Ensure Costume team set up and staffed. Ensure performance snack is set up and cleaned up. Ensure classrooms are clean after each performance.

Makeup Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

By/Around Mid February- Meet with makeup artist and Tracy to present and obtain pictures of makeup and ideas for hair for characters Order (facepaint type) makeup and supplies, as needed. March -Set up makeup stations and hair stations for tech rehearsals (3/6, 3/7), dress rehearsals and performances 3/10-14 with appropriate makeup, picture of characters -Clean up makeup stations after each use- put away for next day -After last show inventory any makeup that could be used again On Site: March 1-2 hours/day

Costumes Lead Signed Up: 0 / 3

This role will have support by Katie Wunder, who will liaison with Tracey Garber (Director), as needed. The team will coordinate costumes from pieces in play closet or rented from shop by Katie. Need sewing or crafting skills and organizational skills. Some work can be done from home and some during rehearsals. December Sift through play closet with Katie for all useable pieces Gather photos of ideas for costumes Meet with Tracy and Katie, get Tracy’s list of wants for costumes (Tracy will have an idea of what she wants for specific costumes) End January/ Beginning of February- Main character costumes should be chosen and finalized either completely or in attainable theory Cast begins fittings during rehearsals and costumes get assigned. Determine which pieces still need to be made/rented March- Acquire rentals (Katie) Attend tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances (divided amongst team)

Marketing & Sales Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

Leading up to the play in January & early February you will: -Set up the online ticket sales and help promote ticket sales (ie send emails for Viking Voice, post on facebook & put up flyers). During the performances, you will set up the chairs for each show and manage ticket sales at the door.

Set Design Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

Now to Early January Read and know script- keeping up to date on revisions Meet with Tracy and Diane to discuss and determine set pieces. This job is for someone who is available evenings. January (begin before or around Jan 7) Set Design: Manage volunteers by creating sign ups for painting, building and decorating of set pieces as necessary and help out. Painting sign up will be for getting volunteers to paint the back wall in a "paint by number" fashion and paint set pieces and some props. February 1st week - Finish up set pieces

Props Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

This role will work with the Producer and Director (Tracey Garber) to determine props needed, organize helpers to purchase or create props and ensure props are tested during final rehearsals and ready for dress rehearsals and performances. You will be the main contact of the team you are working with to create the props. Organizational skills needed. This job is great for a creative person who likes to shop, alter and decorate. Glue gun skills and crafting skills helpful. All work can be done from home with occasional check in with director at end of rehearsal.

Audio Visual Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

In January/ February: Record videos during choreography & vocal rehearsals. Place online for cast access. Borrow school iPads to some rehearsals for middle school volunteer use in practicing dances. In March: Store movies or episodes of G rated shows on flash/thumb drive for use with chrome book and projector (both school provided). Set up computer/projector in library for use during performances.

Scheduling/Script Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

November/December- Start reading script preparing for changes by Tracy Attend at least beginning and end of auditions to help check children in and pick up paperwork at end Check with Directors, Tracey Garber and Diane Kamrin, for call backs, send out emails Edit script to reflect gender of children playing roles and anything else kids won’t think to automatically change. Add page numbers to script Send out script via dropbox/email to cast. print a copy and photocopy at school as needed. Keep track of newest version on script directly as well as labeling files January-March- Determine, with Directors, which cast members need to be at rehearsals each week and email out weekly changes plus proposed upcoming week cast needed Schedule soloists for both singing and dancing time (separate amounts) Feb 10 Schedule Audio/Visual person for recording new dance numbers

Determine food & souvenirs to be sold, pricing, coordinate ordering & donations of food and coordinate volunteers during performances.

Raffle Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

Leading up to the play in January & February you will create a sign up for donations and collect the donations from cast families and/or local businesses and package them for raffle during the performances. You will have 6-8 people on your team mostly during the performances. During the performances, you will help the eight off cast actors and parent volunteers to sell raffle tickets & announce winners.

Photographer and DVD Sales Lead Signed Up: 0 / 1

Take photos of all cast members during rehearsals and send to the Program Designer for the Program. During performances, take photos after both shows on Saturday. Post photos online for cast family members to share. Create play poster or collage with 15-20 photos and hang in the MUR. -Posters - Design, order, and hang and take down marketing posters.

Rehearsal Parent Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

Organize signup of interested parents for attending rehearsals (Jan 7- late Feb = 2 parents/ rehearsal; Late Feb - March = 2-3 parents per rehearsal). Also using a sub list for when parents are have conflicts arise. Organize signup from a working list of middle school volunteers who will assist during rehearsals with small groups dancing & running lines. Assign duties to rehearsal parents- set up (arrive early) and take down (stay late to make sure kids are picked up. (TBD if Mr. Doug will do for us-move piano to stage area then back to corner, move stairs, etc...).

Leading up to the play you will plan for the cast party, gather donations and volunteers. All of the actors get to play, eat and dance for a few hours on the Friday evening after the performances, March 20th.

Leading up to the play in January & early February you will solicit local businesses (who have donated in the past) to sponsor the play with ads in the playbill/program and send them to the Program Designer. -Cast T-shirts - Design, take orders, and order (being careful with copyright issues)

Leading up to the play in January & early February draft the programming provided template. Include ads from the Program Advertiser and cast photographs from the Photographer. Collect and include cast biographies and ads from parents. -DVD Sales - Collect DVD orders & coordinate videographer and hand out DVD post performance.

Back Stage Lead Signed Up: 0 / 2

Beginning Last two weeks of February1st week of March - attend rehearsals to tape floor for set pieces, begin making notes on script of set changes. You will be working with knowledgable drama students who know the ins and outs of back stage but we need an adult with some initiative. March 6-14 Tech rehearsals (3/6 and 3/8) attend to cement set changes/locations, mark curtain pulls for scenes, mark script for curtain puller, finalize script for set changes Performances -School performance 3/10-3/11 attend and/or have trained adults to be at morning school performances 3/12-3/14 -Divide schedule between the two leads, knowing that lots of teenage help will be provided during evening performances.
