⚠️ New Volunteer Requirement Update (Quick Heads Up)
Fri, Jun 26 3:29pm

Dear Walnut Acres Families,

We wanted to share an important update regarding school volunteering requirements for the upcoming year.

Due to new state law and district guidelines, there is now an additional annual training and clearance requirement for many school volunteers. This includes a 45–50 minute online training that must be completed before volunteering on campus or during school-day activities.

We know this adds an extra step — and we want to acknowledge that it’s not nothing. We also appreciate how much our community shows up for our school, and we’re grateful for your continued support as we adapt to these new requirements.

✅ Who Needs to Complete the Training?

In general, if you are volunteering more than 2x/year during the school day or directly with students, you will likely need to complete the training.

Examples:

  • Going on a field trip → YES
  • Helping in the classroom (ex: math stations multiple times/year) → YES

❌ Who Likely Does NOT Need It?

If your involvement is more limited or outside the school day:

  • Helping with drop-off (car line, opening doors) → NO
  • Volunteering 1–2 times/year at events outside school hours (Ice Cream Social, Carnival, etc.) → NO

⏰ When Should You Complete It?

This training and clearance must be completed before your next qualifying volunteer activity, so we encourage you to review the requirements sooner rather than later if you plan to be involved.
