2019 Read-a-Thon: Saddle Up & Read!

READ-A-THON 2019 starts MONDAY!
Round-up some good books and giddy-up!

HOWDY! Our Read-a-Thon team kicked off our annual reading fundraiser to the students yesterday with much excitement! Reading log envelopes should be on their way home and contain information about how the Read-a-Thon works. This weekend have your child set their reading goal. Once students have set their goal, then your child can start collecting sponsors among family and friends that would like to support their efforts. On Monday there will be two western themed areas set up if you would like to snap a picture of your child and send it to those friends and family.

On Monday the Read-a-Thon officially starts!  Students can dive into books to read, and start logging all that glorious reading time. Make sure your child logs all minutes/hours so that we can tally them at the end of the fundraiser. All reading log/envelopes are due back to your student's teacher on Friday, December 6th.

As done in previous years, we will be using 99pledges.com to streamline our online donations. You will be able to reach out to friends and family by email, Facebook, and Twitter, instead of going door-to-door, tracking commitments, and handling checks. (Although if some would still like to write a check, we will gladly accept those as well.)

Later today, you should receive an email with a link to your child's online pledge page. If you do not receive the email for whatever reason, simply search and find your child's pledge page by following these steps:

  1. Click or type this link into your internet browser

  2. Click on the search bar ("search for participant").

  3. Type in your child's first name and a drop down menu will appear as you type in your child's name.

  4. Click on your child's name and that will take you to your child's online pledge page.

You do not need to log in or change anything. All you have to do is make a donation for whatever amount you can, and share your child's link with friends and family. We are shooting for 100% participation so no amount is too small.

  • An ice cream party for the top fundraising class between TK-2nd
  • An ice cream party for the top fundraising class between 3rd-5th.
  • The student with the most minutes read in each class
  • The top fundraising student in each grade

Next Friday (the 22nd) we will be having a "Western Wear" day. Students are invited to bust out their cowboy boots, hats, bolo ties, etc. and dress in any of their favorite "Western Wear" to help keep the Read-a-Thon and its theme top of mind as we head into the Thanksgiving break and into the second week of our fundraiser. We will have small prizes for select students that round-up top notch western duds!

If you have any questions, please contact Carolyn Bargagliotti and M'Lissa Fleming via Konstella, in-person, or at readathon@walnutacrespfc.net
