Does your child love discovering patterns or solving logic puzzles? Do they enjoy going beyond the standard classroom math and exploring deeper ideas? If your child enjoys math, read on to learn about Walnut Acres' Math Kangaroo program, starting later this year!
Math Kangaroo (www.mathkangaroo.org) is a global nonprofit on a mission to help students love math. The program focuses on teaching new strategies for solving problems, helping with critical thinking and gaining confidence in the classroom. This year, the U.S. National Math Kangaroo contest takes place on March 18th. Walnut Acres students can register to participate, and we plan to offer after-school practice sessions, starting in January.
*Note for parents of 1st/2nd graders: to participate, students need to be able to read independently*
If you would like to join the Walnut Acres Math Kangaroo community or learn more, please join the Math Kangaroo channel in Social Groups on Konstella. This is where all updates, practice session schedules and materials will be posted. We will host an informational Zoom session on October 22nd at 6pm.
For questions, feel free to PM program coordinator Silke Smith on Konstella.
