We’ve heard some great questions from families, and we wanted to share a bit more clarity about how Science Fair and STEM Night will work together this year.
First and foremost: we are not losing the Science Fair.
The curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and independent thinking that families value so much are still very much part of this experience.
Here’s what’s new (and what’s staying the same):
🔬 Grades 4 & 5: Science Fair (During the School Day)
This year, Science Fair projects will be embedded into the 4th and 5th grade science curriculum. Students will design and complete their projects during class time with teacher guidance, ensuring all students have equal access to materials, support, and time to explore the scientific process.
All completed projects will be proudly displayed at STEM Night, so families and the community can celebrate students’ hard work together.
🧪 TK–3rd Grade (Optional, At-Home Projects Welcome!)
For our younger scientists, participation is optional and flexible.
If your child would like to create a science project at home, there will be a dedicated showcase area at STEM Night for TK–3rd grade projects — as well as space for any 4th or 5th graders who have an additional idea they’re excited to share beyond their classroom project.
🎉 STEM Game Night (For Everyone!)
STEM Night will also include interactive, hands-on stations and challenges designed to spark curiosity, collaboration, and joy across all grade levels. These activities complement the Science Fair by giving students another way to engage with STEM concepts — together, in a playful and inclusive environment.
This event is a joint effort between our teachers and the PFC, and our goal is to honor the tradition of Science Fair while expanding opportunities for every child to engage with STEM in meaningful ways.
📅 Save the Date: Wednesday, May 6
We’re so excited to see our students’ creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills on display, and we can’t wait to celebrate together as a community.
Thank you for your thoughtful questions and continued support — more details (including logistics and volunteer opportunities) coming soon!
