Registration for Math Kangaroo Competition - deadline December 15
Tue, Dec 4 8:37am
Walnut Acres Elementary
Did you know that Walnut Acres students are invited (and encouraged!) to participate in the
Annual International Math Kangaroo Competition?

This spring (for the second year in a row), under the leadership of Walnut Acres parent, Chao Yang, Walnut Acres is participating in the International Math Kangaroo Competition for students in 1st-12th grades. Math Kangaroo's goal is to encourage students to learn mathematics by presenting them with problems that are interesting and by rewarding their efforts.

This year, the competition will take place all over the world on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Registration is now open online (until Dec 15) at Math Kangaroo Registration.

To register your student, log into your account. (or create a new one if you don't have one already.) Once you log in, click on the 'By invitation' tab right above 'Participation Centers'. Enter one of the following invitation codes:
CAWALNU0003518@19MK (for the 3 pm session)
CAWALNU0003528@19MK (for the 7 pm session)
Then click 'enroll', and follow the instructions for payment ($21 per child). The last day of registration is Dec 15, 2018. If you have trouble with registration, please contact Chao Yang at

Once your student is registered, they will be invited to participate in Math Problem-Solving sessions that are coordinated by Walnut Acres parent volunteers. These will be scheduled on a selection of Saturdays between January and the contest date in March. These sessions will help prepare students for the written, strategy-based math contest.

On March 21, 2019, students will take an individual math test after school in competition with other students at their grade level from around the world. All participants will earn prizes, enjoy math fun, and enhance math skills.
