This spring (for the second year in a row), under the leadership of Walnut Acres parent, Chao Yang, Walnut Acres is participating in the International Math Kangaroo Competition for students in 1st-12th grades. Math Kangaroo's goal is to encourage students to learn mathematics by presenting them with problems that are interesting and by rewarding their efforts.
This year, the competition will take place all over the world on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Registration is now open online (until Dec 15) at Math Kangaroo Registration.
Once your student is registered, they will be invited to participate in Math Problem-Solving sessions that are coordinated by Walnut Acres parent volunteers. These will be scheduled on a selection of Saturdays between January and the contest date in March. These sessions will help prepare students for the written, strategy-based math contest.
On March 21, 2019, students will take an individual math test after school in competition with other students at their grade level from around the world. All participants will earn prizes, enjoy math fun, and enhance math skills.
