If you haven't yet - please check out the great lineup of After-School Enrichment classes below. The final day to sign-up for Semester A is this Friday, August 28th. 

We especially could use a few more sign-ups for Mon- Capoeira, Mon & Wed-Glee Clubs, Tues-Spanish, Tues-Cheerleading, Wed-Guitar, Wed-Flag Football, Thurs-Fibers & Textiles and Thurs-Pickleball as those classes are at risk of not getting the minimum number of students. So if you were thinking about those- please sign up and recruit some friends!

Additionally, we changed the classrooms for Chess, Creative Sparks, and Fibers & Textiles. Please see the latest classroom assignments in the descriptions below.

Lastly, we’re also holding Conference Week Camps again in November, with registration open until October. (Camps are at the very bottom of this email.) 

Few callouts: 

  • This year we plan to have 2 equally-spaced semesters* of up to 16 weeks each so you can rotate your child through a range of activities or sign them up again for classes they loved: 

    • Semester A classes run between 9/8/26 - 1/22/27 

    • Semester B classes run between 1/25/27 - 5/21/27 

*Note: CUYT has its own performance schedule and so doesn’t fall within these guidelines. Guitar also goes year-round. Some vendors may still offer a shorter Spring session, but students must sign up during the Semester B enrollment period.

  • All vendors are required to be on campus when school is dismissed, so your children will not have a gap in supervision even if the class officially starts 10-15 minutes after the final bell. 

  • If your child is in TK or Kindergarten, they will be picked up by the vendor directly from their classroom. Older students will walk to the enrichment class on their own.

  • If your child attends aftercare at the Walnut Acres Children’s Center, you can request that the enrichment vendor bring your child to the Children’s Center after class ends. If you have a child on the early TK schedule, the vendor can also pick up your child from the Children’s Center if you provide the Children’s Center your authorization. Please contact the vendor and Children’s Center to let them know your preferences.

    → Last, but not least, we are looking for another parent volunteer or two to help out with coordinating AfterSchool Enrichment. This role is behind the scenes and works great with a working parent's schedule. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more!

Glee Club: Zombies & Descendants Singing Adventure!

Step into the worlds of Auradon Prep and Seabrook High in this exciting vocal performance class inspired by hit Disney movies Descendants and Zombies!  Young performers will sing songs inspired by the Descendants and Zombies movies, learn fun, character-based choreography, create themed props or costume pieces, and rehearse for a final showcase full of Wicked style and Zombie power!  Sing, dance, and shine as students explore music from both worlds.  Whether you're a Villain Kid, a Royal, a Cheerleader, or a Zombie, Glee Club is The Place To Be!

Capoeira Arts: Music and Movement Fitness Fun

Capoeira is Brazil’s fast and graceful Afro-Brazilian art form, which blends dance, martial arts, and acrobatics into one beautiful art like no other. We aim to educate, promote and inspire cultural exchange through the art of capoeira. Encourage our practitioners, who are children, parents, students, and professionals, to develop and maintain self-confidence and esteem and use capoeira as a healthy outlet for physical wellness and emotional empowerment. 4th & 5th graders join former Walnut Acres Art teacher Mrs. Kyono to practice advanced techniques in perspective and shading! Using our favorite tool, the mighty pencil, each class enjoys fast warm ups, engaging drawing challenges, and multi-day projects. Students finish the course with a filled drawing notebook, a stocked pencil box, and skills that set their art apart.

Oil Pastels!

Join former Walnut Acres Art teacher Mrs. Kyono as we explore color through bright and creamy oil pastels! With a new project each week, students will learn how to blend colors and create beautiful designs using contrast, shading and highlights.  Students receive their own set of pastels to keep, plus color theory skills that last a lifetime.

Premier After School Flag Football

In this class, students will learn the fast moving game of flag football. The skills of running, jumping, starting, stopping and change of direction will all be incorporated into each class. This is a great fit for students who have played flag football before, are intrigued to learn a new game or want a fresh and fun way to improve their athletic skills. Glee Club: Royals & Rebels

Royals & Rebels is a dynamic Glee Club experience that explores music about power, courage, confidence, and standing out.  Inspired by pop hits, movie soundtracks, and Disney favorites,  students will explore both sides of performance - polished and powerful Royals, and bold, confident Rebels.  Students will sing, move, and create performance props while exploring bold characters with powerful storytelling.  With featured moments, optional solos, and creative prop making,  singers shine as both fearless rebels and confident royals. The session culminates in a musical showcase where students bring character, confidence, and storytelling in a memorable performance.

Pickleball which is a great activity the whole family can do together - Its slogan is often “A Game For All”. It’s easy to learn, has a great name and is often used as a gateway to playing tennis. In this tactile, creative class, kids learn the meditative arts of weaving, stitching, and knotting — building real skills while making beautiful, useful things they are genuinely proud of. From scarves and stuffies to wall hangings and beyond, every project enhances fine motor skills, patience, resilience, and problem-solving.

THE LITTLE MERMAID (WINTER FULL SCALE MUSICAL)

The WINTER FULL SCALE MUSICAL offers performers the opportunity to train in voice, dance and acting while being part of an amazing team, their classmates, to create the magic of musical theatre. Performers will audition in small groups so the directors can assign parts to each registered performer. 

Small Group Auditions for cast & part assignments JANUARY 5-8. Each performer will be assigned to a group with a one hour time slot on one of the days.

Rehearsals begin 1/11/27 and continue through the week of opening performances. There will be two casts - one rehearses primarily on Mondays and Thursdays and the other on Tuesdays and Fridays. Rehearsals are after school in the MUR until 5:00 (with later times for a few rehearsals before the show opens). Performances are March 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7:00PM in the MUR. SQUIRM!

SQUIRM! is a spring mini-musical for performers in 1st grade. Rehearsals are six weeks Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:45 in the MUR from 4/13/27-5/20-27. On the final rehearsal day (5/20/27), there is also a performance in the evening at 7:00PM for family and friends.

CONFERENCE WEEK CAMPS

We're excited to announce this year's Conference Week camps! We hope these offerings will help provide your kids with fun, stimulating activities during the two-week period where school ends early so that teachers can meet with parents and caregivers.

We’re pleased to offer three camps: Premier Multi-Sports Camp, Creativity Camp, and Dance Camp. Check out our offerings below and register to secure your child’s spot!

Note: there is no school on Veteran’s Day (11/11), so no camps will be held that day.

Multi Sports Camp 

Premier 1on1 Sports is excited to offer our fun Conference Week Camps this fall at Walnut Acres. We have a conference week camp running from 12:50-3:50 pm. 

Premier 1on1 Sports provides a multitude of camps throughout the year. Premier 1on1 Sports in conjunction with the Walnut Acres PFC will be offering a multi sports conference week camp. Skilled instructors will conduct a 3-hour camp daily where students will participate in various sports, such as basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, along with many other sports. All our camps provide experienced instructors who bring valuable knowledge and youthful enthusiasm to all sports. 

Premier 1on1 Sports is dedicated to the betterment of players of all ages. Please make sure your camper has a water bottle and pack an extra snack for our camp.

Sessions: 

  • Week 1: November 2nd - 6th from 12:50 pm - 3:50 pm (3 hours daily) 

  • Week 2: November 9th - November 13th from 12:50 pm - 3:50 pm (No Camp 11/11, 3 hours daily)

Creativity Camp 

Creativity Camp is a fun, engaging program for students in grades K-5, held during conference weeks right here at school. Your child will explore, create, and imagine through artmaking and hands-on discovery. We blend arts and crafts projects, games, and imaginative play to spark curiosity in a supportive, nurturing environment. Whether your child loves art, building, storytelling, or just making new friends, Creativity Camp offers a fun-filled way to stay engaged while school is out. Register for one week or both!

Dance Camp 

Dance Camp is being offered during the November conference weeks!  Please join dance coach, Megan Burton, for any of the 8 after school DANCE CAMP classes at Walnut Acres Elementary School. Choose all 8 days or pick and choose any of the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday classes. Each class will include a warm up, stretching and dance practice.  A snack will be provided.  Students will also have time for a craft, songs and games! Each student will earn a ribbon on their last day attending camp.  Let's dance!
