Reminder: Two days left to donate to the Darcie Jones Book Drive!
Wed, Mar 4 2:24pm

The Darcie Jones Book Drive is March 2nd-6th! We are collecting new and gently used books for ages 11 and under. These books will benefit Shore Acres Elementary School. This year they are in need of English and Spanish books. If the book drive is big enough, we will continue to support "Books for the Barrios", a non-profit that has the goal of building libraries for children in need in the Philippines.

Please drop off donations by the office. Children’s books ONLY!

Email communityservice@walnutacrespfc.net with any questions.

This community service drive was named after Darcie Jones, a Walnut Acres parent who started a book drive in the Spring of 1994 to benefit the summer reading program at Meadow Homes Elementary School in Concord. This school doesn't need the donations this year but we would like to continue with Darcie’s mission of supporting and providing reading opportunities for children in need.

After Darcie died of cancer on December 31, 1996, the PFC renamed the book drive “The Darcie Jones Book Drive” and planted a tree outside the 3rd grade wing in honor of all she contributed to Walnut Acres.
