Recycle Club Updates

Our 4th and 5th grade Recycle Club members meet every 2 weeks for education and helping the school to become more “green”. This highly motivated group cleaned up our Walnut Acres campus last month and in only 30min picked up 5 bags full of trash around the campus.

Reusable Dish wear:
Did you know Walnut Acres has 3 sets of reusable party wear with dishes and cutlery for 30? Classrooms can borrow it for their room parties and support a more sustainable life on campus.
CRV recycling drop off:
Next CRV can and plastic bottle drop off is this week March: 3/1-3/4. Please drop off your cans and bottles in the assigned bins provided at the car drop off line between 7:40-8am. The funds will be used for eco projects at the school, e.g. environmental educational books for the classrooms.
DID YOU KNOW?
Composting organics is now the law for everyone in California
Residents can participate in organics programs provided by the Franchise service provider, Republic Services (the green cart!) to compost organic materials at no additional cost to your services.

If you have questions regarding recycling or our WAE Recycle Club please do not hesitate to contact our parent leaders Monique Pickering or Libby Oda via Konstella

Lunch Duty volunteers needed
The sign-ups for lunch duty volunteers have been extended through the rest of the school year. We need parents daily to help supervise students during lunch and on the playground to make sure they play safely, as well as assist in cleaning the tables between student lunch shifts. A sign-up for Wednesday shifts was also added on Konstella.*A reminder that to volunteer on campus, you must be fingerprinted, have a current TB test AND be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with your proof of vaccination on file with the office. TB tests are good for four years. Parents of 4th & 5th graders - it may be time to redo your TB test! The Minute Clinic at CVS Pharmacy on Bancroft Rd. does walk-in TB tests. For more information on volunteering check out the MDUSD website.*
