Principal Ashton's Announcements
- Parking Lot: Please remember that the Walnut Acres parking lot is for employees only.Do not park in the employee parking lot. We have staff that come-and-go and work at multiple locations so while spots may appear open, they often are not. Our staff has assigned parking spots and lately have had a difficult time parking.
- Centralized Enrollment -The TK/Kindergarten Registration calendar is now available! MDUSD is currently anticipating being in their new Enrollment Center (previously Diablo Community Day School) attached to Willow Creek Center, prior to the start date. Student Services will still provide Elementary sites with Kinder Registration packets should families come in to request them and we ask that sites provide us with their school specific forms for distribution, at least 2 weeks prior to their registration date. WALNUT ACRES Registration Dates: Tuesday March 21, Wednesday March 22, Friday March 24.
- Morning Supervision: Our Morning supervision teachers are noticing a lot of kids already on the blacktop at/before 7:40am. Please remember that no student is to be on the blacktop until 7:45am
- Updated Staffing:
- Noon Monitor: We are hiring 2 more noon monitors! It’s 10 hrs/week from 11:10-1:10 M-F. If you are interested in this position please contact Principal Ashton.
- Instructional Assistance (IA): We are still hiring for 1 IA position, if you are interested in joining our school part time please reach out to Principal Ashton directly.
- Welcome Jessica Streeter, Jennifer Hammond, and Vicki Palmer to the IA team. Principal Ashton has also moved forward one more candidate for hire.
- Enrichment Support 4th/5th Teacher: Welcome Mrs. (Lisa) Taylor to Walnut Acres! She will be our new 4th/5th grade Enrichment/Science Lab teacher! She started on November 18th.
- Vocal Music: Still Open
- MDUSD African American Advisory Council (Share with Families) - MDUSD is excited to announce that our next AAPAC (African American Parent Advisory Council) meeting will be December 20th, @ 6PM. We will have a celebration focusing on the seven principles of Kwanzaa.

NHS Broncos Boosters Annual Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for Sunday, December 18th from 9am-12pm at Boundary Oaks. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for self-taken photos from 9:30-11:30. Raffle for multiple NHS sports-themed baskets and toys of all ages to be held around 11:30, need not be present to win. Admission tickets can be purchased HERE and raffle tickets will be sold via credit card at the door! No reservations. Spread the word! Please send questions to stacyhallett@gmail.com

Sustainability Committee
WAE Recycle Club is still looking for a volunteer to bring the collected CRV cans and plastic bottles to the recycling center. We are looking for a parent with a pick up truck or similar to bring the CRV collected to the center about every 3 months.

Math Kangaroo
Last chance to register for Math Kangaroo contest: Discounted registration closes December 15th and all registration closes December 31st. The nation-wide contest takes place on March 16th with possibility to participate right here at Walnut Acres. Optional free practice sessions offered by site manager at Walnut Acres library starting December 2nd. 2nd Grade Parents - December is your Drive Thru month!
2nd Grade Parents: Please help us in the Drive Thru line as we open doors and greet students while they are arriving at school. As in previous years, we are having each grade level help out at the Drive Thru during specific months. We would appreciate 2-4 helpers each day. Can you help for 20 minutes in the morning, 7:40 - 8:00 am? If so, please sign up!

Lunch & Recess Duty sign-ups
We need parents daily to help supervise students during lunch and on the playground to make sure they play safely, as well as assist in cleaning the tables between student lunch shifts. All volunteers must be cleared by MDUSD to help at lunch. Sign-up HERE

Support the PFC and put a smile on your child's face! For $25.00, the greeting “Happy Birthday ‘Your Child’s Name’” will be on display on the Walnut Acres' electronic Marquee from 7am-9pm on your date of choice. Click HERE to purchase.
Is your child’s birthday during the summer? Consider a “half-birthday” greeting 6 months after their birthday.
The deadline for submitting an order is one week prior to your child's birthday.

Drive Thru Procedures
- Pull up to a volunteer for assistance getting your student out of the car
- Do NOT get out of your car
- Have your child ready (goodbyes said, backpack ready) to exit curbside
- Do NOT go around other cars if you are "empty"
- Do NOT park in the drive thru line
