Darcie Jones Book Drive is March 2-6!
We are collecting new and gently used books for ages 11 and under. These books will benefit "Books for the Barrios", a non-profit that has the goal of building libraries for children in need in the Philippines. If you want to donate books in Spanish, those will support the monolingual families at Shore Acres Elementary School. Although they will also take English books this year!
Please drop off donations by the office. Children’s books ONLY!
This drive is in memory of a Walnut Acres’ mom, Darcie Jones.

Jaguar Fund - Fall Pledge Challenge Winners!
Our Jaguar Fund Fall Pledge Challenge winners were able to celebrate with their very own ICE CREAM party!!
A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Carella's and Mrs. Graves’ classrooms (and families) for their support during our Fall Pledge Challenge.
Ms. Carella’s class won for “highest participation rate” and Mrs. Graves’ class won for “highest amount raised”!!

Save the Date for...
Walnut Acres will again participate in Walnut Creek’s Community Service Day on Saturday, April 18th from 8:30-11:30am. We typically spend the morning beautifying areas of the campus identified by school staff, such as building and planting in raised bed planters, cleaning up overgrown areas, etc. Save the date and check for more information soon.
Also, we’re looking for someone to take over planning next year. If you’re interested in shadowing the current coordinator this year, please reach out to Dareyn Stilwell at dareyn@gmail.com.

The Walnut Acres International Fair will take place on April 24 from 4:30–6:30 PM on campus. Join us for a celebration of the cultures and traditions that make our school community unique. With performances, games, food, and interactive learning, there’s something for everyone.
Interested in getting involved? Country Ambassador sign-ups will open soon—join the International Fair Ambassadors group on Konstella to learn more and stay up to date.

5th Grade Dedication & Yearbook Cover Contest
5th grade parents: Congratulate your 5th grader and celebrate this milestone with a dedication ad in the yearbook. Please see the attached flier for information and an example of an ad. You can create and purchase the ad at the same site as the yearbook HERE.
We also need our 5th grade artists to submit their artwork for the yearbook cover contest. Artwork must be on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in vertical (portrait) format, and include the school name (Walnut Acres) and school theme (Wild About Learning). The deadline to submit artwork is 12/19. Submit entries to Yvonne in the office, and make sure the artist's name and teacher is written on the back. Emailed entries are also accepted.
