Principal Ashton's Announcements
Black History Month: As Black History Month has officially come to an end, MDUSD wants to thank each and every student, parent, and MDUSD staff member who made an effort to highlight the many contributions of African Americans. MDUSD held our district-wide Black History Month Celebration and HERE is an inspirational video from our superintendent Dr. Adam Clark. He gave an inspirational speech about the state of African American superintendents in California and an unsung hero in Black History that every student (K-12), parent and educator MUST HEAR!! Feel free to use this short three minute video to share with your student. Remember Black History should be celebrated 365 days a year!
African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) meeting - The meeting will be held Tuesday, March 21st 6 PM at Riverview middle school in room 415 (Black Family Resource Center). MDUSD will be focusing on physical/mental health for African-American students and families. We have a few community partners that will come in and educate parents on best practices to improve their overall health.
Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts through our Auction event this year! We appreciate our volunteers, our community contributors and the parents who raised their paddles this past weekend. The Auction was an immense success!
We are looking for parents to volunteer on our auction team next year. Please contact auction@walnutacrespfc.net if you are interested.
IMPORTANT!!!

As part of the committee, you'll work with 2-3 others to draft communications to send out, prepare any votes that need to take place for individual roles and get the full slate prepared for final vote at the May General meeting. All can be done from the comfort of your home!
Our local volunteer organization, TAPS (Teen and Parent Service Society) is hosting a kids fishing day in Heather Farm Park this Saturday from 8-11.

Please consider performing at the International Fair. It's a simple & spectacular way to showcase our community's many cultures & the deep pride that goes with them.
Stuck on Ideas? Try one of these:
--Teach us your favorite word
--Show us a popular cultural dance step
--Sing your National Anthem (or another traditional song)
--Do a Popular Sports Cheer (i.e., a World Cup soccer chant)
--Recite a Poem
--Tell a Joke
--Share Insider Travel Advice
--Wear & Explain a Traditional Outfit
**Demonstrate a Popular Custom or Holiday Tradition
No performance is too small, and you don't need to be a table ambassador to share the stage. What will you do?
