Principal Ashton's Announcements

Extra Clothes Donation: The Front office is looking for clothing donations of all sizes (TK-5) - underwear, socks, pants (short/long), and shirts for all genders. Sometimes we have students who have accidents (bathroom, bloody nose, falling, ect) that require them to need a fresh set of clothes, when we can’t get in touch with families we would like to be able to offer them fresh clothes to change into while at school.

If you have clothes in TK/K sizes, please reach out to those teachers directly as they keep extra clothes in their classrooms since they have bathrooms in their classes.

Congratulations Math Kangaroo 2023 Participants

A record 56 students registered to participate in the international Math Kangaroo competition at Walnut Acres in March. This is a challenging sequence of math problems that requires focus and creativity to complete.

All the kids did fantastic, demonstrating impressive diligence and dedication. Four of our Walnut Acres students finished in the top 20 places and/or top 10 percent nationally: Spencer Regenstein (5th grade), Santiago Wiesner (4th grade), Nathaniel Lim (1st grade) and Nicholas Kuthan (1st grade). Congratulations to all!

Recycle Club / Green Team Recruitment

The Recycle Club/Green Team has had a fantastic and productive year—maybe one of our best! We are so proud of what the kids have accomplished this year, from our monthly WA clean-ups of the grounds, to sprucing up the garden, volunteering at school events to make them greener, to making the first ever “No Plastic Lunch Day(s)” a big success.

As Monique and I are moving on next year, we are looking for someone, or a team of interested people to take over the club as well as the duties of the Sustainability Coordinator. We’ve been honored to do this work for many years, but it’s time to pass the “green torch” and would love to train someone for continuity. The club could be as involved, or not involved as you deem fit.

Please contact Monique Pickering or Libby Oda via Konstella if you are even mildly curious. Thank you for all your support and consideration of our efforts over these long/short years!
