Project Night Night-Volunteers and Donation Sign Ups

West Elementary

This year's Service Learning trimester 2 project is Project Night Night and will occur from  January 21st - January 31st, 2020.

West is partnering with Bay Area Project Night Night, an organization that provides Night Night totes to homeless children ages birth to pre-teen. As we see many homeless in the city and areas around us, I know my children ask how they can help. Here is an opportunity to let our children help other children with comfort items that they can relate to needing themselves.

Together the West community will work to fill individual canvas bags with a new stuffed animal (huggable size – not too small), a new crib-sized blanket or small throw that will fit in the canvas bag and a brand new book.  We are hoping to do 250 totes this year.

We are also asking our West parents to volunteer to help oversee the stuffing of the bags. Similar to Treats for Troops, our students will be stuffing bags with their buddy classrooms during the school day on Friday, January 24th and Friday, January 31st.

We will then need parents to help us reorganize,  label (age and gender of recipient), and restuff the canvas bags during conference week.

We know our West community always gives above and beyond to help others when needed and appreciate everything you all do so thank you for your support.

Sign ups are below. Any questions, please feel free to email either one of us or Mrs. Mata.

Project Night Night organization has an Amazon Wish list which can be used to either purchase your items for donations or give you ideas of sizes of items or type of items that work best for the donation. https://www.konstella.com/go?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fhz%2Fwishlist%2Fls%2F36I1YPB0HKGAT?ref_=wl_share

Just make sure shipped to you so your children have an opportunity to bring the donation into school themselves.

Project Night Night also recommends Kohl's Cares for Kids items (books and stuffed animals matching) at a reasonable price that also helps children nationally with the donation.

Thank you again!
