Hello West Valley Community!
Does your student walk, bike, or scoot to school? Are you concerned with the safety of the route your student takes? The City of Sunnyvale is creating Safe Routes to School maps for all of the schools in its boundaries. We are in need of 4-5 parents to attend mapping training, where you will learn how to:
- gather data on usage of students walking and biking routes
- assess safety conditions of streets, bike lanes, and sidewalks
- evaluate families' concerns regarding getting to and from school
There are two training sessions next week: Monday, November 6, from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, and Thursday, November 9 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am (see the attached flyer for more details). Mapping will occur at a school-wide event later this year.
For more information, and to RSVP, contact Norma O'Connell at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you can help, please send Norma the date you can attend and the school you will are volunteering to map for and reply to this message.
