Science Night Volunteer Shifts (Fingerprinting/TB clearance NOT required)
Thu, Nov 17 4:00pm-6:45pm
West Valley Elementary GLC
2 days before, 7 days before

As part of the Family Fest, the Lawrence Hall of Science is bringing their "Build, Engineer, Invent!" Festival to West Valley! This 50-minute program is designed to give students and adults a free-flowing, hands-on experience with applied engineering. Each table/station has a different activity and challenge involving the elements of building, designing and testing, and as a volunteer you’ll be in charge of one of them.

Always remember that you don’t have to be an engineer or scientist or teacher to help out—you’re a facilitator. Explore, learn, and—most of all—have fun with the kids. You can tell them what the challenge is, demonstrate or explain how to work with the materials, refer to the signage provided, etc.—but, ultimately, try to let them make their own creations and discoveries.

Sign up for a shift below to be part of the magic of Science Night!

  • Session 1 Volunteers - 4:00-5:30pm (includes orientation, 50min program, resetting the station, and passing the baton to the next session)
  • Session 2 Volunteers - 5:15-6:45pm (includes observing/resetting the station, orientation, 50min program, and cleanup)

Fingerprinting/TB clearance is NOT required for this role.
