West Valley Elementary

Dear West Valley Families,

We hope you had a safe, fun (and not too hot) Labor Day weekend! The WVPTO runs a number of programs and fundraisers throughout the school year which directly benefit our children. While the WVPTO provides the funding to make these programs happen, these programs are also dependent on volunteers from our school community to run. The following committees are still looking for chairs and/or additional committee members to get going for the school year:

Running Club (co-chair and committee members needed) – This committee organizes the running club, an optional structured lunchtime activity for 1st-5th graders several times a week during the school year. Students can run or walk as many laps as they like. Students receive different awards when they reach various mileage goals. Volunteers are needed for both on campus lunchtime help as well as assistance from home. Contact WVPTO Programs Director Ray Xu for more info.

Safe Routes to School (chair and committee members needed) – The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program encourages students to walk and bike to/from school. It also educates students on traffic safety. The centerpiece of SRTS is an ongoing incentive program to encourage students to walk/bike to/from school. The Santa Clara County Public Health Department, which runs the local Safe Routes to School program for area schools, provides funding as well as information and support. The WVPTO provides funding as well. Contact WVPTO Programs Director Ray Xu for more info.

Hospitality (committee members needed) - This committee is in charge of refreshments for our morning informational WVPTO meetings, helps to coordinate several teacher appreciation snacks/meals and other miscellaneous events on campus during the school year. Contact WVPTO Vice President Libby Shen for more info.

Box Tops (committee lead needed) - The Box Tops for Education program is an easy way to help raise money for West Valley. This committee runs contests throughout the school year to encourage families to clip Box Tops off of hundreds of products they use every day and bring them to school. Box Tops are worth 10 cents each. That might not sound like a lot, but it adds up quickly. Contact WVPTO Fundraising Director Katherine Chan for more info.

eScrip & Paper Scrip (committee lead needed) - This committee lead oversees/promotes the eScrip passive fundraiser as well as coordinates several Paper Scrip sales throughout the year. More details about eScrip and Paper Scrip can be found on the WVPTO website or by contacting WVPTO Fundraising Director Katherine Chan.

To sign up for any of these committees, please visit the Committees Page on Konstella. You can also reply to this email and your interest will be directed to the appropriate person.

Thank you for your support!
