WVPTO Year End Recap and Thank You

West Valley Elementary

Hi West Valley Families!

The end of the school year is once again upon us and our students are about to be one grade level older. Before we wrap up for the summer, we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you again to all of our parents for your contributions to West Valley this year, both volunteer hours and monetary donations. Your generous contributions of time and funds are greatly appreciated and collectively contribute to the success of our school.

Without our amazing parent volunteers, the following events and programs would not have been possible this year: Walk-a-thon, Project Cornerstone, Valet, Book Fair, Family Science Night, Multicultural Night, Teacher Appreciation Week, and so much more. Thanks to your generous support via Direct Donation, Walk-a-thon, Book Fair, Spirit Wear, and our other fundraisers, we were able to raise approximately $300,000 this year! This money will be used to fund supplemental staff positions and programs in the coming school year such as our Creative Lab, dedicated Art Teacher and Program, K-3 Music Program, instructional aides, additional hours for our library and technology clerk, and more!

While most of our programs and events have volunteers committed for the next school year, we are still in need of a Valet Co-Lead and a Running Club Lead/Co-Lead. Please respond to this message if interested in finding out more.

One final reminder regarding Direct Donation: If you have not completed your corporate match request with your employer, please do so as soon as possible. We are counting on those pledged matches for our 2017-2018 WVPTO budget. Again, if you need an expedited receipt to do this, please contact Marissa Levy at mlevyrealtor@gmail.com. All other receipts will be emailed out this summer.

Thanks again to our exiting WVPTO board members for their service over the past year(s): Kristina Gibbs, Sandra Fujii-Krisdakumtorn, Rashmi Saraf, and Jen Schaub. And we welcome new members Katherine Chan, Marissa Levy, and Ruel Parent to the existing board. We all look forward to working together in the year ahead as we continue to make West Valley a great experience for our students.

Finally, best wishes to our graduating 5th grade families. We wish you and your students much success in middle school. We wish to extend special thanks to Debby Hall and Jen Schaub, our Wildcat Award recipients, for their dedication and service at West Valley for over 5 years.
